Internet Home Businesses, Time Management and Fishing tournaments, Conclusion, What Do They Have in Common?   by Bryan Beckstead

Internet Home Businesses need attention, Time and resources to flourish. One of the ways to make this happen is to know the connection between fishing tournaments and Time Management.

Here is the conclusion. In a fishing tournament, you need to submit the heaviest 6 fish you can catch, the heaviest total weight of 6 fish, wins the tournament. Until you catch 6 fish, the weight of the fish you have is not an issue, when you catch the 7th fish, you know need to throw out the lightest fish, number 7. Are you with me on this? Good.

In Time Management, when we are trying to get the most out of each day, we also have to be concerned with the "weight "of each hour we spend in a day. Our dilemma is this, we have more things to put into our hours, than we have hours in a day, do we not? We are all crying that we never have enough time to do all of the things we want to do, we never have the time to do what we want to do when we want to do it. We have to be like the fishermen in the tournaments, we have only so many hours in a day, they have only so many fish they can submit, we both have to be aware of the value of the unit we are dealing with, they deal with weight, we deal with what we can accomplish in our hours.

Internet Home Businesses need to squeeze the maximum productivity from the hours they have available to them. Like the fisherman in a fishing tournament, when they have caught their limit, they then have to start to compare two fish, decide which is the lightest and then throw the lighter of the two back into the lake. We have to do the same.

In order to accomplish as much as we can, we need to be aware of the limitations put on us. There are only so many hours in a day, and I think we can all agree, we want to do more than we can physically do in a day, a week a month. Our reach will always exceed our ability to do all that we want. This is where we need to be like the fishermen in the tournaments. Like the fisherman, we also have a limit, there are only so many hours in a day, and we can only do so much each day, week month. If we want to do more, we have to turn inward, we have to start to do like the fishermen, look at two activities, and decide which one is the "heaviest".

After dealing with thousands of owners of Internet Home Businesses what separates the successful ones from the ones that do not achieve as much as they would like, is their ability to weigh their activities and spend their limited time, effort and resources on the " heaviest " activities. The question is this, what constitutes the "heaviest "activities to you and your business?

That is a question that requires much more debate and discussion than space allows here. What I can add is this; remember the fishermen do not have to worry about the weight of the fish till they get their limit, in their case 6 fish. The same goes for us, until we are at our limit, the value and weight of what we do is not as critical. Try this, while you are on your way to getting to your limit, START the process of looking at what you do and see if you are making the right choices. This is not a process that you start over night and miraculously make the right decisions. The fact that you are thinking in this direction and you are aware that you have to start to make these kinds of decisions puts you way ahead of your competition.
